WHITE JEW BARRED FROM LOCAL NAACP SLATE

Modesto, CA – Robert Stanford, a Caucasian, Jewish civil rights activist has allegedly been barred from the slate of an upcoming Modesto/Stanislaus National Association for the Advancement of Colored People election.

A Lifetime NAACP member, Stanford announced his intention to run for NAACP President publicly to a Modesto City Council Meeting with a platform consisting of a reduction in the 70 percent recidivism rate of youth in the criminal justice system and a resolution to further enforce superior court decisions such as Brown VS. Board of Education and the Mendez Vs. Board of education.

Stanford says, “Equitable education and the reduction of the cradle to the prison pipeline is the only way we will be able to save ourselves from self-destruction. Only through true equality and equal opportunity can we as a human race hope to survive much longer.”

Considered by many as an extremist, Stanford has long been criticized for his unusually aggressive approaches to civil rights advocacy and has also been accused by many local Latino and African American leaders of becoming overly attached and emotional regarding his client’s disparities and lives.

In 2005, in reaction to Ceres, CA Police Chief Art de Werk’s muted response to invitations for personal dialogue, Stanford announced intentions to run for Mayor of the City of Ceres and, “completely replace the Ceres Police Department”, citing civil rights violations of his own social work clients in a farm labor camp in Ceres, called El Campo following the shooting death of a Ceres Police officer by Marine Corporal Raya who had family in the area.

Stanford says he believes the local NAACP slate issue is about more than just race or nationality. Stanford said, “They know I have membership support. They know I can win. They also know that I will beat swords into plowshares and exponentially multiply membership throughout the entire County. I can see the strides of diversity the cities and surrounding county has taken for us as a community – but my opponents refuse to see it. They’re all just talk. When the cause is real I always stand alone. Alone with the real victims.”

The Feb. 25th election is scheduled from 1 to 6 pm at the Second Baptist Church, 529 California Ave., Modesto, CA. State NAACP says that nominations will be taken from the floor.
