sioned pleas from advocates
on behalf of the homeless in
Santa Cruz County, the Scotts
Valley City Council decided by
a 5-0 vote last Wednesday, Dec.
6, to join other cities that ban
camping in public places.
Before the vote, Scotts
Valley was the only jurisdiction
in Santa Cruz County that did
not have restrictions against
sleeping in public places within
city limits. Other governments
also restrict camping on pri-
vate property, a step city offi-
cials say may be in the offing.
