Jeff Adachi a good Public Defender

by Francisco Da Costa
In San Francisco the Public Defender is Elected. We are glad to have as our Public Defender Jeff Adachi. Jeff Adachi has fought for our youth but most of all he has fought for JUSTCE. Many of us do not ponder to define "justice". When we see true Justice in action, fair play, and equal opportunities in the legal system - it will open our eyes. Too many innocent folks linger in jails because our Justice System has no Standards less Transparency - many of them youth with no support from the family.
We are lucky in San Francisco to have as our Public Defender - Jeff Adachi.

Jeff Adachi will fight for the youth to give youth opportunities and help those youth that have made some mistakes to rehabilitate and change their lives.

In today's world the youth are not given opportunities in San Francisco as they were in yester years. Politicians and those that make policies like the Mayor's Office of Criminal Justice (MOCJ) are fast to zero in on youth to put them down and cite them but very slow to help them.

Our SF Juvenile System rakes with corruption and those that make policies cannot think out side the box. Again and again I have appeared before the SF Juvenile Commission and requested the policy makers to think outside the box.

You cannot talk down to the youth and abuse them - and then suddenly expect the youth to change their lives. It simply does not work like that.

We have hundreds of youth in San Francisco that do not have a home. They crash in places where they sleep for a night - not knowing what is in store for them tomorrow. We have the same situation with families and children - that are poor and have no roof under their head.

The Mayor and his crones have no clue about this situation. The Mayor has the Getty's to back him up and his never tasted what it means to be poor.

In the interim we spend Billions fighting wars far away where we have no bussiness being in the first place. We have our National and Local priorities all screwed up.

San Francisco has a $5.7 Billion dollar budget - little money spent on youth.

We must be thankful we have Jeff Adachi who will stand for our youth.

In San Francisco we have a SF Youth Commission - that should take an imporant role defending the rights of youth in San Francisco. Working with MOCJ and Department of Children, Youth and Families (DCYF) to help youth. This is really not happening.

In the mean time Mayor Gavin Newsom has done little if nothing for our youth. He is more interested in his fake hair - Spin and Media.

It is wrong for our youth to be incarcerated when they are not given Safe Havens especially in the poorer neighborhoods.

It is wrong not to give our youth Recreational Facilities. This is what is happening in the Bayview Hunters Point.

Time for all of us to work for our youth - stand with our youth to bring true justice to those that deserve a little love from those that had it good before and take it for granted.
