An End to Politics As Usual: Local Green Party Fields Strong Slate of Candidates for 2006
Calling for an end to politics as usual, the San Francisco Green Party (SFGP) is fielding a slate of seven strong candidates for local office this November.
Candidates, all of whom have received the official endorsement of the SFGP, are as follows:
Krissy Keefer, Congressional District 8 http://www.krissyforcongress.com/
Barry Hermanson, Assembly District 12 http://www.barryhermanson.org/
Emily Drennen, BART Board http://www.emilydrennen.com/
Jane Kim, School Board http://www.janekim.org/
Kim Knox, School Board http://www.kimknox.com/
John Rizzo, College Board http://www.johnrizzoforcollegeboard.com/
Bruce Wolfe, College Board http://brucewolfe.net/citycollegeboard/
Greens are expected to do particularly well in local races, where others such as Ross Mirkarimi, Sarah Lipson and Mark Sanchez have been successful. It is a strategy of building the party from the bottom up, as was mentioned by Matt Gonzalez the night he conceded his race for Mayor of San Francisco.
Candidate platforms express similar themes of transparent government, greater accountability, and a sustainable future.
A full list of SFGP endorsements, including ballot propositions and other candidates, will be announced after our final endorsement meeting September 20. The final list of endorsements will be posted on the SFGP web site at http://www.sfgreenparty.org.
