Juneteenth (see the article for a short synopsis of the history) will be celebrated in Berkeley on Sunday June 18th, 2006. Below i have reprinted a posting including schedule about it from the city of Berkeley's website.

The first Juneteenth celebration was held on June 19, 1865, when the last slaves in America were freed. General Gordon Granger rode into Galveston, Texas and issued General Order No. 3, on June 19, almost two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation.
