Three years before the famous rioting at New York's Stonewall Inn, a group of transgender women and gay street-hustlers fought back for (possibly) the first time in this country's history, against everyday police harassment at Gene Compton's Cafeteria in San Francisco's Tenderloin.....
Featuring performances by the award-winning rock band Lipstick Conspiracy,
and selections from the Emmy-nominated documentary film
"Screaming Queens: The Riot at Compton's Cafeteria."
SF-TEAM works to commemorate transgender heritage, to empower and nurture transgender and gender-variant individuals; and to increase visibility to promote positive social change.
