radical contingent at st. patrick's day parade
I'm looking for local radicals interested in forming an anti-impirialist block for this years st. patrick's day parade in san francisco.
hey folks,
I'm looking for local radicals interested in forming a radical anti-impirialist block to march in the annual St. Patricks Day parade here in San Francisco. The idea is *not* to be disruptive, destroy property, or do a breakaway contingent since doing so would be disrespectful of the larger event - it's a festival, not a protest.
Instead, the idea is to take a lighthearted approach and participate in the celebration, while highlighting the long anti-colonial and anti-impirialist tradition within irish and irish-american politics, drawing some connections to current events in Iraq and throughout the world. this call is inspired by the successful action of irish-american anarchists at the parade in new york last year (photos attached below).
I'm going to contact the parade organizers to see if we can get permission to participate in the official parade. failing that, i'd like to put together a pamphlet discussing some of the relevant issues and pass it out along the parade route.
For obvious reasons this call is particularly aimed at persons of Celtic descent, but of course everyone is welcome to participate. please send an email to Lynx (http://emceelynx.circlealpha.com/contact.htm) if you're interested in helping to make this happen.
thanks, see ya'll in the streets!

and please, pass the word on to your list-serves, friends, and afinity groups! the parade is on march 11th so we need to act quickly to pull this together!
It would be aimed at the San Francisco Archdiocese which has organized most of the ongoing anti choice/anti-abortion activism in San Francisco- They are behind the "Walk for Life" which was held this January. Are they march co-sponsors?
I need the Catholic Church(and its organizers) away from my womb as much I need my country to withdraw from Iraq and as much as I want Britain out of Ireland...
