ALERT!! Call Dianne Feinstein's office NOW!!!

by Elizabeth Creely/BACORR
This call was put out by Nichole Yelich, a reproductive rights organizer...CALL NOW!!!
Hello all,

Ok folks, the Alito hearings are in full swing and I need phone calls to Senator Feinstein immediately. She just said on CNN that she is comfortable with Altio's answers on Roe v. Wade. This is an incredibly disturbing comment considering that Senators on the judiciary committee have drawn similarities between Alito's comments on abortion and Clarene Thomas' comments during his hearings. Alito is anti-choice, his record clearly reflects that, and he has said that the U.S. Consitution does not provide for the right to abortion--I don't need to remind you of the shoes he's going to fill--Judge O'Connor who has been the swing vote on a number of cases regarding abortion and the right to choose.

If we don't have Feinstein's vote against Alito we are completely sunk. It's go time.
Feinstein can be reached at: 415/393-0707 (San Francisco).

Here's a sample script for your call, but of course you should use your own words. We are trying to track the calls as much as possible--if you make the call, email me back and let me know.

Senator, we are very concerned with Alito's statements regarding Roe and the right to abortion. Senator Schumer said that he thinks that Alito will overturn Roe, and we agree. Alito is using the same language about Roe that Thomas used – he said that he'll keep an open mind, but that's an empty promise given his record. Groups on the Right like Focus on the Family are thrilled with Alito's answers on choice. And the Republican Majority for Choice has come out against Alito because of these same answers. We need you to be strong, Senator – certainly as strong as Republican Majority for Choice.
