Foster Farms Under Fire -- Employees Speak Out

by www.fosterfacts.net
On October 25, nearly half of the employees at Foster Farms' chicken slaughterhouse in Livingston, California joined a walkout.

Living off an average hourly wage of $9.50, employees are displeased by low wages, racial discrimination, favoritism by supervisors, occupational hazards, short notice of overtime shifts, pressure to increase production, an anti-union atmosphere and unreasonable health insurance costs at Foster Farms.

East Bay Animal Advocates (EBAA) interviewed employees and union organizers on the picket line. To read excerpts from EBAA's transcripts, visit http://www.fosterfacts.net/wst_page6.html

On November 2 at 6:30 pm, EBAA will hold a pro-animal, pro-union leafleting outside of Safeway (3747 Grand Ave in Oakland). Safeway is a major retailer of Foster Farms products.

by why?
Why should someone support this? Wouldn't this be analogous to Monsanto workers demanding higher wages...or Raytheon workers demanding better working conditions.....?
