Emily & Eric of the Common Ground Clinic, gave ernest accounts of the medical needs in Algiers. FEMA and the local hospitals are non-existant, and the volunteer clinic in the Mosque is the only site people can go to get medical needs taken care of. Simple needs are being untreated and the diabetics, hypertensive and infected wounds need ongoing supplies. The most common medical supplies are needed.
Vincent Scotti Eirene of BlastFurnace Radio, Pittsburg, PA, also is delivering - coordinating regular supply shipments from the east coast. Go to his website for particulars if you are back east.
Supplies Needed: Refrigerator Truck, Spices, Good produce, soup ingredients & grains, large tents for community use, cleaning supplies, sledgehammers, drywall equipment, diapers, baby-wipes, towels & sheets, bleach, rubber gloves, respirators, any medical and clinic supplies, blood pressure devices,
The Coalition will be accepting donations until Oct 21, when they leave for the Katrina affected areas from San Francisco. To donate contact them <relief [at] c3relief.org>
