My friend and fellow vlogger, Rene over at Luxomedia has also created a video of the San Francisco ski jump -- she's got all the landings! Check it out.

I suppose this is a community and cultural event and qualifies as news, I just wonder where any analysis is?

Linking the ski jump to climate change seems like a stretch. Yes, it was an uncharacteristically hot day in the city. Yes, there was snow on the ground. But despite that logical disjunct, I'm not sure how this relates.

Now if we want to talk about class privilege, and the fact that a bunch of rich skiers and snowboarders were able to close down Fillmore St. so they could play in the snow, then you might have something...

At the same time though, all the Pac Heights residents were up in arms about this happening. When it's a battle between rich privileged kids and the VERY RICH Pac Heights residents that play an active role in economic exploitation which side do you fall?

I happen to side with the ski punks, because, if you look at it right, and it might not be too easy to see it this way, to some extent. They too are reclaiming public space and using the roads for something other than the heavily polluting cars that normally monopolize the road.

theyre hardly "reclaimng the streets". and the energy being expended to provide this ski jump is extraordinary, you should know that. but you dont need to be defending yourself.

pls keep posting your videos and dont let the comment wieners get you down. most of em prolly never get out - they are too busy waiting for new indybay posts to materialize (so they can criticize them)..
