Local Animal Sanctuary Seeking Farm Hand
Animal Place, a 60-acre sanctuary for farmed animals in Vacaville, seeks a resident farm hand to assist with all aspects of animal care at the sanctuary.

Resident, live-in position
Job Title: Animal Caretaker
Job Description
1. Assist with all aspects of animal care at the sanctuary (cleaning barns, raking pastures, feeding animals, medications, etc.)
2. Assist with other sanctuary tasks as needed (i.e., farm tours, information tabling)
3. Fill in during animal rescues and emergencies
4. Help with all farm chores (i.e., repairing fences, maintaining barns and equipment, etc.)
Qualifications
1. Animal experience (preferably large animal but not a necessity)
2. Hard worker
3. Skills in general maintenance, carpentry, fencing, farm equipment operation strongly preferred
4. Ability to handle physically demanding labor
5. Interest and commitment to working in animal protection and vegetarianism
Hours/Days: Five days a week (one of which will include weekend day). Early morning and some evening work depending upon the season and needs of animals. Flexibility is essential.
Accommodations: Live on sanctuary grounds in small studio apartment. Rent is subtracted from salary.
Benefits: Medical Insurance plan; paid holidays; 2 weeks vacation per year
Salary: To be determined.

Organization Description: Animal Place is a sanctuary and education center for farmed animals and other domestics. The 60-acre sanctuary is located off Hwy. 80, just 50 miles east of San Francisco and 40 miles west of Sacramento. The sanctuary cares for hundreds of animals and has three separate on-site residences.
