EQUALITY CALIFORNIA: 12 Days of Equality
Day 11: Call the Governor, Read a Message by Alice Huffman
September 22, 2005
Equality California's TV ad is already a HUGE success-airing in California's major
media markets and appearing on news broadcasts throughout the state. The ad, which
you can see by going to
http://www.outofthecloset.tv/videostorage/marriagebill.mov, forcefully articulates
that there are times in history when leaders have an opportunity to take a
courageous stand.
Help Equality California bring our televised message to as many viewers as possible
in these critical last hours of this campaign. Go to http://www.eqca.org/ab849tvad.
Yesterday, leaders of the LGBT community met with the senior members of the
Governor's staff. The true test of this meeting's success will be whether or not
the Governor stands up for equality and does the right thing.
In one more day, the Religious Freedom and Civil Marriage Protection Act will reach
the Governor's desk. He can sign the bill into law, he can veto it or he can allow
it to become law without his signature.
Today, we are asking you to again call the Governor and tell him to support marriage
equality. Take today's action: go to http://www.eqca.org/action11.
This is a moment that calls for leadership. On Wednesday, Alice A. Huffman, the
distinguished President of the California NAACP, stood in solidarity with Equality
California; Dolores Huerta, co-founder of United Farm Workers of America; and
Assemblymember Mark Leno (D-San Francisco) in supporting marriage equality.
Read today's message, from Alice Huffman, who tells how a broad coalition of support
has formed around the issue of marriage equality. Click here

EQUALITY CALIFORNIA: 12 Days of Equality
URGENT! Day 10: Help EQCA Get Its Marriage Bill Ad on TV!
September 21, 2005
We are now down to the wire. We have less than 48 hours to change Governor
Schwarzenegger's mind.
Equality California has produced a compelling TV ad that we believe can convince the
Governor to support marriage equality. Our ad poses the provocative question: On
which side of history will the Governor stand?
To see the ad with Quicktime GO TO
http://www.outofthecloset.tv/videostorage/marriagebill.mov.
To see the ad with Windows Media Player GO TO
http://www.outofthecloset.tv/videostorage/marriagebill.wmv.
This truly is a historic moment. Now we need each of you to help us get this message
seen by as many viewers as possible. If we can raise $100,000 or more in the next 24
hours, we can place the ad on stations in major media markets and possibly turn the
tide in the Governor's thinking on marriage equality . With the stakes in this
battle so high, we cannot pass on this opportunity.
And just as a long-distance runner depends on a surge in strength towards the end of
a marathon to make it to the finish line, we urgently need an influx of dollars to
create a groundswell of support for marriage equality.
Now, more than ever, your help is needed. To donate, go to
http://www.eqca.org/ab849tvad.
Then ask everyone you know to give, too!
We are deeply honored by your continued support and generosity. Thank you!
