FARM WORKER SOLIDARITY ACTION ON MARCH 10TH

HUMAN BILLBOARD @ 3PM IN FRONT OF BEVERAGES & MORE ON STANYAN AND GEARY IN SAN FRANCISCO

Farm Workers with Gallo of Sonoma have been working without a contract for over a year. The Gallo family has consistently refused to sing a contract that would honor the backbone of their business. Throughout this passed year the workers have organized tirelessly to change the tide against their sobering reality. They are fighting to receive higher wages, health benefits and job security. Despite the workers efforts, the Gallo's have refused to even listen.

Uniquely, this battle is not just for the benefit of the direct hires. The bulk of this struggle is to gain protection for the workers who are contracted by outside work agencies. More and more the agricultural industry is relying on contractors to circumvent not just Union contracts but also liability such as workers compensation.

Gallo is THE industry leader with annual sales of over $2 billion dollars… meaning 1) they can afford to pay their workers better and 2) industry leaders set industry trends. If they don't treat their workers well and exploit the FLC (Farm Labor Contractors) angle then the whole industry suffers. Gallo can set an example for the whole industry and can encourage improvements industry wide.

This campaign needs to be escalated. Bev'Mo is the largest whole sale contract that Gallo of Sonoma has. If Matt and Gina Gallo won't listen, let's send our message to their largest purchaser.
