A four day workshop session sponsored by Free Radio Berkeley. This session will teach you: the fundamentals of micropower broadcasting; how to build FM broadcast transmitters (and other related items such as antennas); what is involved in setting up a low power (15-100 watt) community radio station capable of covering a broadcast radius between 5 and 15 miles depending on power, terrain and antenna height.

The workshop tutition is $150-$200 sliding scale. Kits for transmitters, antennas, etc. may be purchased for assembly during the workshop session. Average cost for a broadcast station kit package (transmitter, antenna, cabling power, supply) runs between $300 and $700 depending on kits and power level chosen. All participants will be assembling kits whether they purchase them or not.

All Radio Camp sessions are held at Free Radio Berkeley's shop in Oakland, CA. The address is 2311 Adeline, Unit P. FRB's Micropower Broadcasting Primer, available on the web site http://www.freeradio. org, is used as one of the primary documents for the sessions. Anyone interested in attending should download this document which is in pdf format.

Radio Camp sessions for 2005 are as follows:

January 14-17
March 12-13 / 19-20, split over two weekends for those that can not take time off from work
April 8-11
May 27-30
July 1-4
August 5-8
September 2-5


Sessions start at 10 am and end at 6 pm

An attempt will be made to make housing arrangement for out of town participants. If possible, attendees should arrange for their own housing needs.
