Man Pleads Guilty to Setting BYU Fire
Sep. 14, 2004
SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- An 18-year-old Provo man accused of setting fire to a Brigham Young University farm building in the name of an animal rights group has pleaded guilty to a federal charge of destruction of property by fire.
Harrison David Burrows entered his plea today. In exchange, the government says it would recommend he only serve five years in prison. He will be sentenced in January.
Burrows admitted setting fire to bundled cardboard at BYU's Ellsworth Farm on July eighth. He also says an accomplice set fire to two tractors that night. Damage was estimated at 30-thousand dollars.
As part of his plea agreement, Burrows agreed to testify before any grand jury or at any trial about his involvement and the participation of others.
That is in connection with both the B-Y-U fire and for any other information about acts committed in the name of either the Animal Liberation Front or the Earth Liberation Front.
