G8 Protests in SF Today

by injuas
For some reason, Indybay isn't giving information or links on their front page to the anti-G8 protests happening in conjunction with the Biotech protests. Anyway, there WAS an anti-G8 anti-war breakaway march today ...

I stole this picture from SF Indymedia, I don't think they will mind if I repost. Original URL is:

The breakaway was GREAT!!! And especially since not many turned out for the Answer March it seemed like a higher percentage of people went on this breakaway. We gave a real show to tourists hanging out at Fisherman Wharf.

Also seems to be some controversy about the obvious lack of G8 protest coverage on Indybay:

This smells like a COINTELPRO tactic and folks will see right through it.

I was never around during the split, nor do I even care about the split. Will folks get over this shit. We all put alot of time and effort into covering everything that happens in the bay area. Annoying attacks to either sites credibility really doesnt promote anything but splitting bay area activists. Is this what this is all about? Get over it.

As for folks commenting on the fact that we aren't covering the bay area G8 protests. It is unfounded. I was there and so were 5 other indybay volunteers and alot of sf.indy folks.

where the link to http://westcoastg8.org is then. Seems to me it should be on the front page since it's one of the key mobilizing points for the g8 protest.....

so wait.

First it was that we weren't covering the anti-g8 breakaway march and now it's because we havent put up a link on the front page?

Here's a pointer: http://www.indybay.org/government/#2166

Note the west coast g8 link has been up up all week.

Really, I am just wondering why you had a link to a site coordinating mobilizations in brunswick and not the site coordinating locally. I mean, since this is a bay area event being done here, you would think that indybay would get overthemselves and try and do some good for the scene. But I see cooler heads have prevailed and there is now a link up there, so I consider this argument to have been won. :) Cheers janky!
