New Public Interest News Gate Brings Democracy to the Mainstream Media
AskQuestions.org - Public Interest News Gate
AskQuestions.org is a new Public Interest News Gate where the public can pose questions to the news media that they feel go unnoticed by mainstream news sources. Other users can vote for which questions they feel are most pressing. Users are encouraged to donate funds as part of a grassroots effort to support independent journalists to fully investigate and report on these issues. This website has the potential of involving seasoned journalistic resources with reporting on the issues that the public feels are important, rather than the newest celebrity gossip as is too often seen. Some current questions are: Who pays taxes in america? Who is profiting from the Iraqi war? How secure are voting machines? Are the Bush and Bin Ladin families really friends? Is there really an industry formed around the abusive incarceration of teenagers? and many more. Visitors are encouraged to read the investigations under way, vote on a question, or ask their own question.
