SF queer marriages continuing thru long weekend

by Tortuga Bi LIBERTY
Same-sex marriages licenses are continuing to be issued in San Francisco, Feb. 12 thru 16. This could end on Feb. 17,
if homophobes prevail in court.
Feb. 13-14-15-16: queer marriages continue in SF
......

Dear freedomseekers,

By public radio, I hear that San Francisco City Hall's marriage license bureau will stay open thru the three-day weekend, Feb. 14-15-16, to issue marriage licenses -- mainly to same-sex couples.

Fascists will try again to stop such licenses from being issued. But their first chance won't come until a court hearing on Tuesday, Feb. 17, since Monday is a public holiday.

I heard that a group of Muslim fascists demonstrated outside SF City Hall, denouncing queers. I'm sure there must also be some Muslims who believe in freedom, but I don't know what the percentages of opinion are.

Maybe I'll make a pro-freedom sign, and walk over to Civic Center Plaza, facing City Hall, today.
Maybe with this message:

"CIVIL Marriage
is a
CIVIL Right."

I might write this on the back of an anti-war sign.

See you there?

Gay Couples Rush to San Francisco

By Evelyn Nieves
[WASHINGTON POST (DC)]

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 13 [Friday]--
The couples began lining up outside City Hall at 4 a.m., four hours before the marriage license bureau opened.

By 8 a.m., more than 50 couples were waiting for the new gender-neutral licenses that would allow same-sex couples to marry. By 9 a.m., there were 100 couples; by 11 a.m., 200 couples. Some had flown in from New York or had driven all night from such places as Los Angeles, Portland, Ore., and Palm Springs, Calif. [....]
