Fresh from his victory in the Pacifica Radio struggle, New York-based journalist and media activist Juan Gonzalez will speak on the topic of Mass Media and the Future of Democracy on Saturday, March 2 at New College in San Francisco. Gonzalez is a columnist for the New York Daily News and co-host of the award-winning Pacifica Radio show Democracy Now. He also founded the Pacifica Campaign, an organization that helped win back control of the Pacifica Radio Network from corporate hijackers who tried to divert the nonprofit radio network from its peace and social justice mission. A reception will at Mexican Villa restaurant in the Mission will precdede the New College event. Both events will benefit San Francisco-based media advocacy organization Media Alliance.
