March for Human Rights and Peace

Date:
Saturday, October 27, 2001
Time:
11:00 AM - 4:00 PM
Event Type:
Protest
Organizer/Author:
Wendy Snyder
Location Details:
Meet at Dolores Park for 11 am March. Return to Dolores Park for a 1pm Rally

As our hearts go out to all those who have suffered as a result of the attacks on September 11th, we want to quadruple our efforts to challenge U.S. policies that have resulted in these acts of terrorism against the United States. We can not let these attacks be used to justify war and aggression against the peoples of Afghanistan, the Middle East, or any place else. Ensuring a future for our children does not require war and retaliation, but building a world of human rights and peace. We also understand that the same U.S. policies of aggression and warfare are used against African, Mexican and other oppressed peoples inside U.S. borders. Our goal is to bring thousands together on the 27th to show the world we stand against the policy of police containment, prisons and militarism; whether in Hebron or Hunter's Point, from East Oakland to Afghanistan! We must support freedom, human rights and justice right at home and abroad. The march focus will be to support: 1. Peace, oppose war; 2. Human rights around the world and in the U.S. ; 3. Civil liberties, oppose religious and racial bigotry and attacks; 4. Oppose all acts of terrorism
