Zionists Need to Forgive

by mm
Forgiving is the key to healing according to A Course of Miracles, a Christian-based theology championed by Marianne Williamson. Forgiving frees both the oppressor and the oppressed. Miracles can happen.
Zionists are convinced of the need for a Homeland for Jews, in other words, a Jewish State.

Palestine was just one of the choices that the father of Zionism Theodor Herzl contemplated for this homeland, included among the choices of Uganda and Argentina.

Herzl was actually convinced that there was an "anti-Semitic gene" in every non-Jew, and was certain of the need for a Jewish state somewhere. This was back in the late 1880's, and Palestine was chosen due to the fact that the British were hoping to win control of it after WWI. In exchange for financial assistance from the Jews, mostly from eastern Europe, for the British government's efforts in WWI, British politician Balfour was certainly glad to help the Jews with their goal of a homeland in Palestine. He was anti-Semitic himself, and also had no sincere concern about the Palestinians already living there, not to mention he was happy to take their money.

The part that the Jewish community played in WWI as such thus caused them to become targetted by Hitler in WWII, since he blamed the defeat of Germany on the Jews.

Therefore it is accurate to say, that the Zionists endeavors to have a homeland in Palestine accomplished the following:

* A Jewish state that requires constant discriminatory, apartheid policies to be a Jewish state. This includes ethnic cleansing and dispossession of the indigenous people, the Palestinians. Immoral acts of killing, stealing and lying by the Israeli army and politicians are daily committed to maintain and achieve this goal of a Jewish state.

* A further rise in anti-Semitism due to these above mentioned injustices

* In fact, the Holocaust could be attributed to the Zionists' behind the scenes maneuverings to get their Jewish state.

American Jews in particular, have made the Holocaust and Israel the dual centerpieces of their ideology, the driving force behind almost everything they do, especially in politics. It's a very Us Against Them ideology that puts up walls between Zionists and non-Jews.

Imagine this, if American Zionist Jews, instead of putting all their energy into maintaining the immoral state of Israel and constantly commemorating the Holocaust, would rather turn their focus on Forgiving and Loving. To forgive does not mean to forget. It simply means to forgive. To let go. To have faith in God. To have faith in Love. To have faith in the basic goodness of humanity. To believe that Good will always triumph over Evil. Hitler and his evil policies bit the dust, for example. It may have taken a while for the world to wake up, but when the world did wake up, Hitler and his racist policies were successfully battled.

Imagine, if American Zionist Jews were able to let go of the Holocaust, not forget it, but let it go… and let go of the need for a Jewish State that necessitates oppression, dispossessing, discriminating against others. Imagine if American Zionist Jews put all that amazing energy into other endeavors, like helping the poor in this counrty get on their feet, like improving our education and health programs in this country, and so forth. Then America would truly be a moral leader, with Zionist Jews at the forefront, instead of a military and monetary leader, with Zionist Jews leading Americans to be complicit in the support of immoral Israel and leading the US into an unwarranted war on Irag.

Jews, Muslims and Christians lived in relative harmony in Palestine up until the Zionists came along with with their goal of creating a Jewish State. Israel-Palestine is and always has been naturally multi-cultural, and should remain as such without artificial maneuverings, discrimination and oppression of any ethnicity or religion. Jews can certainly rightfully have a home in Palestine, but only if they are willing to share it and accept a shared, completely democratic, secular government, that allows for all 4 million Palestinians the right to return to their ancestral homeland, which is their right according to International Law and UN Resolutions.

This is not a naïve concept. This is a realistic concept, as it is the case with the US and with South Africa. OK, so the US and South Africa are not perfect. But at least everyone has the right to vote, and to buy land, and the right to pursuit happiness in their own country. Discrimination is not allowed, and this is enforceable by law.

We are all God's children. God IS Love according to Christian Science and others. Zionist Jews need to let go of their Victimhood, and rise above that, for it traps them in an endless cycle of destructive negativity. Zionist Jews need to trust in Love, and love not only other Jews but all God's children. When you feel afraid, love one another. That goes for us all.

I recommend that all of us get familiar with The Course in Miracles. Check out your local bookstore or search the internet. We need a new approach in this new millenium if we are to survive. Miracles can happen if we want them tohappen.

I'll close with some passages from A Course on Miracles.

"Where, then, did we get the idea that we are a victim? The Course says that the victim is a self-deception, a mirage we constructed using psychological defense mechanisms. The most relevant one is projection. The key elements that make up the cruel world of the victim are actually inside the mind of the so-called victim, and have merely been projected onto the world by that mind in an effort to escape them."

"Powerlessness is only the beginning of the victim. Its full flowering is the raging accusation, "I am the thing you made of me, and as you look on me, you stand condemned because of what I am". This accusation, this blame, is also within the mind and is also projected outward."

"To blame the world is to condemn it, to accuse it of being guilty. According to the Course, this accusation is really an internal thing. Our minds are condemning themselves, yet cannot bear this, and so must expel this poisonous substance and project it onto the world. We take our dark self-condemnation and blanket the world with it, causing everything outside of us to look dark and dangerous, sinful and suspicious."

"Putting together the projection of guilt with the projection of power, we can get a hint of what exactly we are trying to expel from our minds. It must be that slumbering somewhere in our unconscious depth we sense a guilty power. And this leads us to the next level, the "reality" that underlies both the victim and the face of innocence."

"Like to a dream of punishment, in which the dreamer is unconscious of what brought on the attack against himself, he sees himself attacked unjustly and by something not himself. He is the victim of the "something else", a thing outside himself, for which he has no reason to be held responsible. He must be innocent because he knows not what he does, but what is done to him."

"The unfortunate truth is that our internal wounded victim and even the innocent, giving face that we present to the world, are both disguised forms of the brutal murderer within us. In both we produce the appearance of innocence by projecting that murderer out onto the world. In both we manufacture righteous justifications for the ego's attack. With the victim, I justify my attack with the accusation that you attacked first. With the face of innocence, I justify my attack with the claim that I gave to you, I sacrificed for you. Both are simply ways of hanging on to the ego while giving it the power of "righteousness" and the appearance of innocence."

"The right mind lives in the constant awareness that it is one with all living things. And from it, waves of love ceaselessly go out to all those things that share its Self."
