DC: No War But the Class War

I basically agree with this slogan but wearing masks and being provactive plays into the states hands at this particular moment. We need to let the publics fear level decrease a bit. The ruling class is dying to put the terrorist label on its opponents. Milant rhetoric isn't always tactically wise at certain moments.

exactly for tactical reasons. there were plenty of DC police out videotaping people. if you lived in DC, would you really want to be on tape? if anything, i think more people should wear masks in solidarity with those activists who legitimately need to. you should understand that police repression in the united states is a real thing and some people have a real need to wear masks. can you respect that?

anarchist hyberpole and hysteria. While we need to have an organized and vigilant defense of civil rights and against any group or individuals facing repression-- the masks don't protect us as a tactic-- it legitimizes state repression. Yeah if a the teargas breaks out by all means put on a mask. What am I not respecting? I'm criticizing the phony romantization the masks wearers are engaging in because it hurts much more than it helps at this particular moment in time.

have you ever done police brutality work in a city? and i mean, been really involved? ever been followed home at night by police? ever had beat officers call out your name when you walk by? ever brought a civilian complaint against the police? ever opposed a housing issue that organized crime is working against you? perhaps for YOUR kind of activism, you are not afraid. other people do not feel like that. and people wear the masks in solidarity so that it is not so obvious. i'm sorry you think this is "hyperbole" ... why dont you just say that you dont respect that and you think you know best for everyone?
