FTAA Shock Troops Out in Force

by SF IMCistas
Hundreds and hundreds of riot police came out in a precursor to FTAA protest oppression to combat 75 peaceful, unarmed protesters. Welcome to the new world order.

Its off the top of my head, and most likely an ith rendition. Here goes...

I had much success discussing the issues behind the resistance to globalization (and the FTAA Summit) with misinformed loved ones by this approach.

1) Pure honesty
2) No anger
3) Use historical context WRto the individuals life and how that context has influenced their point of view
ie. past oppression on a person can cause that individual
to excercise the same oppression on others later in life.

There are many examples similar to above where one can approach an other's misdirected value system without any rhetoric. It may require more than one discussion to get anywhere (often does)
4) Do not personalize the argument!
If so, one loses all communication.

I can imagine (with high confidence!) that many already have
perfected the approach, and achieved success.

But for those where this is fresh material,
may it work for you.
We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
