Some of my favorite things are clamps, clips, zippers and especially clothespins. The wide variety of sensations and decorative activities that are possible make them lots of fun. They are also something anyone can play with, from the complete novice to the long time very experienced player. They're also a very cheap DIY toy that can give hours of fun!

I will be showing a variety of clips, talk about where they can best be found or purchased, and demonstating their use on a wide variety of body parts, including genitals. I will also display the construction of a zipper or two and there will be some equipment available for people to try out some of the activities for themselves. I will talk about modifying clothespins to make them more or less evil and decorating them to make your sweet canvas look more lovely or more scary. I may want volunteers from the audience and there will be a chance for folks to experience some of this for themselves if they wish, so please wear something that will allow access to at least some flesh, arms and legs are fine if yer shy.

Clips, etc, can also be used for predicament situations and I will explain a few ways and hope that this evening will be a chance for attendees to also share their own decorative or sadistic ways they like to use these fun and versatile toys. Please bring whatever you have.

BrainTree and the Theory of Everything is Anli Liu's visual
reflection on the myriad of images, information, and experiences that
she has accumulated through her study of neurology. Here she
appropriates the visual imagery of modern medicine-including
biochemical maps, diagrams, and flowcharts-to create a series of
landscape drawings and installations. Incorporating patient detail
and working with the handicrafts of drawing and stitching, she
subverts the detached and reductionist nature of scientific knowledge
and transforms its symbol systems into a kind of personal landscape.
Stylistically, Braintree hovers somewhere between the internal and
external, masculine and feminine, reductionist and metaphysical,
scientific and personal.

Anli Liu is a visual artist and medical student living in San
Francisco. Since her first high school science class, Liu has been
fascinated by the patterns, systems, and processes of biological
life. She also finds herself attracted to the boundary between the
natural and the supernatural. She has previously exhibited at Build,
Arspace, 66 Balmy, Mimi Barr, Genart's Emerge, the World Council for
Arts and Culture Second Biennial International Juried Exhibition, and
Linda Fairchild. Liu is an alumna of Stanford University, UC
Berkeley, Pratt Institute of Fine Arts, and will earn her MD from the
University of California, San Francisco in May 2006.

In 2001 San Franciscans turned out in droves to support a ballot initiative that allows the city to build the largest municipal solar system in the world. Five years later the city has yet to install a single solar panel as part of the program and the Community Choice plan that will jumpstart the solar revolution hasn’t been implemented.

This plan, if approved, will pool the buying power of San Francisco’s electricity customers to build the largest municipal clean energy network in the world. After implementation, at least 1/3 (or 360 MW) of our peak electricity will come from local solar, wind, and other renewable energy. That’s enough electricity to power every home in the city. MAY 15: INT'L CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTOR DAY
For over 20 years May 15 has been celebrated as
International Conscientious Objectors Day. Each
year activities are focused in a country where war
objectors are being harassed or persecuted. This year
the international focus is on the United States'
denial of the right of soldiers to object.
Conscientious Objectors, GI resisters and dissent
within the military deserve our support as they stand
up for human rights and dignity, democratic rights,
and international law. Widespread public support and
pressure can help protect these courageous individuals
from feelings of isolation and from repression of them
and their rights. This year coordinated activities are
being planned in the U.S. in New York, Washington DC
and the SF Bay Area.

PEOPLE POWER CAN END THE WAR
This mobilization is in support of ongoing campaigns
to support GI objectors, resist military recruitment
and a possible draft, and end the war and occupation
in Iraq and global policies of empire. While the
government wages war and occupation abroad, it also
sponsors a domestic war at home, including
attacks on immigrant rights, and cuts in education,
healthcare, and housing. This action is part of a
people power strategy to assert our power to end the
war ourselves by supporting objectors in the military
and cutting off the supply of recruits.

On Friday, May 19, 2006, Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi hosts the monthly Third
Friday’s Art Reception in his City Hall office, Room 282.

In honor of Older Americans Month, Supervisor Mirkarimi pays tribute to the
PhotoShop students of the Western Addition Community Technology Center
(WACTC). WACTC is a non-profit organization.

Through their art and photography, Mr. Felton Cogell’s PhotoShop senior
students share their talent and experience for the first time with the
greater Community of San Francisco.

Please join Supervisor Mirkarimi in celebrating the artistic contributions
of these seniors during Older Americans Month.
