Everyone wants to know what's the best way to get rid of a cold, and it seems everybody has her own remedy for it. In this article, you will learn how to eliminate a nasty cold the PURE HEALTH way, which is Nature's Way.

I probably won't be very popular for saying this, but the truth is that “there is no cure for the common cold.” That's right. Even modern medicine is aware of this.

All of the remedies sold, at the drugstore or from your health food store, only alleviate the symptoms of a problem that shouldn't be stopped in the first place!

Let Your Body Heal

Here's a little known truth: all attempts to “cure” the common cold are completely futile, since the cold isn't something that should be fought or stopped in the first place. The common cold is a *symptom* that the body is undergoing a healing crisis. The body is trying to get well!

Whether you can “catch” a cold is another subject of controversy, but without even going into that, only the body's own powers are able to take this healing crisis to a favorable conclusion.

The common cold is believed to be viral in nature, and there is no treatment that directly fights the virus. In fact, there are hundreds of those viruses, with new ones being discovered all the time!

The more you interfere in the process, either by taking a drug or making some sort of herbal concoction, the more you add on to the body's stress of dealing with the situation. You might be able to get rid of the symptoms, but the root problem is still there. Is that what you want?

Instead, get rid of a cold the Pure Health Way, in 2 easy steps:

Sleep It Off

The main problem people have when they get a cold is that it interferes with their already busy life. How are you supposed to work if you feel like crap? So you take drugs or even just herbal medicines to alleviate the symptoms, and you continue working like crazing, staying up late, going out, eating out, and *never giving your body the chance to heal.*

When you get a cold, you should do this opposite. Think to yourself, “Great! A cold! That's my opportunity to catch up on the rest I desperately need, and my chance to let my body heal itself!”

What you'll need to do is start spending long hours in bed. Rest as much as possible. Cancel those appointments that are not urgent, those nights out, and other activities. Stop your exercise program for a few days, and rest as much as possible.

If that's not possible, at least take it really easy, and go to bed super-early. Give your body a chance to heal and it will do an amazing job at it, I promise.

Eat Properly

95% of people I've met still think that there's some kind of food they should eat that could “increase their immunity” or “boost their metabolism” and help them “fight” the cold better.

They still haven't realized that *the common cold isn't something that should be fought or stopped!*

Here is however a few recommendations that will definitely help you recover from a cold in the shortest time possible.

- Eat only fruits and vegetables. Those are the easiest foods to digest. Avoid protein foods or fat, or starch.
- Drink plenty of warm water.
- Eat a very simple diet. Smoothies, fresh juices, raw fruits in vegetables. No cooked foods except at the most, steamed vegetables.
- Eat according to hunger and if not hungry skip a few meals. There's no harm and only good in doing that.

Eating a simple raw food diet (such as the one I described in my book “The Raw Secrets) when you have a cold will help you recover in the shortest time possible, without doing any harm to the body. A short fast is also advisable (2-3 days max).

Combine that with plenty of rest, and you'll have a winning formula to getting rid of that nasty cold.

By learning proper nutrition habits, you'll also make sure that you stay healthy all the time and never have to go through that again!

"Stop Global Warming" Actions on December 3

Climate Crisis, USA Join the World!
http://www.climatecrisis.us today announced that it is
organizing actions across the United States on and
around December 3 to demand that the U.S. government
support action that is commensurate with the urgency of
the deepening climate crisis.

"Scores of Stop Global Warming local actions will be
happening during the Nov. 28-Dec. 9 time period when
the huge, United Nations Climate Conference in Montreal
takes place," said Ted Glick, spokesperson for the
group. "We will be acting in concert with hundreds of
thousands of people in at least 28 countries around
the world who are making December 3rd an
International Day of Action to Stop Global Warming."

The Climate Crisis group is demanding that the U.S.
government join the world by ratifying the Kyoto
Protocol.

Climate Crisis also demands that the federal government
withdraw its annual $25 billion in subsidies for coal
and oil and create equivalent subsidies for clean,
safe, non-nuclear energy alternatives; that it
dramatically strengthen energy conservation and fuel
efficiency standards; that it plan for a just
transition for workers, Indigenous communities and
others affected by a change to clean energy; and that
it actively defend the world's forests and support
community-run tree planting campaigns.

States where local actions will be taking place
include: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado,
Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Illinois,
Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan,
Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio,
Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Utah and
Washington.

In D.C. on December 3, scores of hybrid vehicles
organized by the Chesapeake Climate Action Network will
circle the White House. In New Orleans the Alliance for
Affordable Energy will be holding a Stop Global Warming
event in the French Quarter. In Los Angeles on December
2, the Labor/Community Strategy Center will be doing an
action calling for an expansion of the city's bus fleet
to provide badly-needed public transportation which
will also cut down on car-producing greenhouse gases.
And in New York, also on December 2, a coalition of
groups will rally in Foley Square across from the
Federal Building calling for the federal government to
stop its obstructionist efforts and instead act to
address this urgent crisis.

In many localities, following the lead of organizers of
a massive march on December 3 in Montreal, participants
in the actions will try to hold their breath for 60

explained that, 'Doing so reminds us all how important
clean air is to all living things. It reminds us of the
urgency of our work. It is a metaphor for what people
on some Pacific islands may soon have to do as the
oceans rise and their islands disappear and breathing
becomes impossible.'

"Pockets of Vast Space" is an exhibition that unites the work of
thirteen artists from the San Francisco Art Institute. Their
practices consider a range of issues exploring the body and its
representations, negotiations and activations of environments, and
natural elements and cycles. Woven together at the Red Ink Studios
Gallery, these innovative and thoughtful paintings, drawings, prints,
sculptural installations, photographs, and video works highlight and
draw connections between artistic, social, and psychological
investigations.

The exhibition runs from December 3rd-18th with an opening reception
on Saturday, December 3rd (from 7-12) and a closing reception on
Sunday, December 18th.

# FYI the US runs a school of torture at Ft. Benning, GA
Previously called School Of the Americas (SOA),
now called Western Hemispheric Institute for Security Cooperation (WHINSEC).
Congress demanded SOA be closed down. So they simply renamed it.
SOA used to be in Panama, until Manuel Noriega said it had to go.
Noriega was an important drug smuggling ally for the CIA.
When he broke with the CIA because he was not happy about the US school of torture in Panama, his days were numbered.
Two other notable men who the CIA made alliances with:
Sadam Hussein, Osama Bin Laden.
The CIA makes allies of people it can use to torture and murder it's enemies.
The CIA was arming, training and using Osama Bin Laden to fight the USSR in Afghanistan.
Before Sept 11, 2001, the CIA was negotiating an oil pipeline through Afghanistan to be built by Haliburton, paid for by Enron, to supply Unocal 76. Those negotiations broke down. That was plan A.
Plan B was flying our own airplanes into our own buildings and blaming them.

Cheney, Perle, Wolfowitz, et al are part of Project for a new American Century (PNAC) who wrote: (5 years before 911)
Without a Pearl Harbor style invasion the American people will not accept
the empirical mobilization necessary to seize middle eastern oil.
CIA initiated Saddam Hussein by having him commit an assasination in Iraq to prove himself.
Once installed to power by CIA, Saddam did oversee the torture and execution of an entire generation Iraqis.
Every Iraqi student or activist who had political aspirations was killed by Saddam who was a CIA operative.

Currently, only 100,000 street trees require a public process before removal, leaving 568,000 San Francisco street trees with no due process. Supervisor’s McGoldrick’s landmark tree legislation will protect only 300 additional trees a year. When private property is sold to real estate developers or when large development is planned on city land no trees are protected. 

Above, all large trees in 64.5 acres were clear cut at Hunter’s Point, many of landmark quality. The developer’s replacement is a 15 gallon tree, approximately 5 feet tall with a trunk diameter of two inches.  A canopy and grove of equal value will not be regained for another 30 to 40 years, if ever!
Supervisor McGoldrick’s tree legislation does not include a uniform policy for all City departments, including the Recreation & Park Department and SF Redevelopment Agency.

Out of all San Francisco’s trees only 12.9% have a trunk diameter of 16 inches or more. Over 50% of SF’s larger, mature trees have been cut down and replaced with newly planted small trees.   These trees currently have a trunk diameter of only 3 to 6 inches!  It will take many years before these saplings will protect our environmental health or contribute to the beauty of a mature urban forest.

Re: Tree Protection Legislation

Dear Supervisor McGoldrick,
I write today because I am really upset by the loss of 240 large trees, several of “Landmark” quality, at Hunters Point housing development.
 
At a meeting with Nicole Franklin, Project Manager and Paul Menaker, Vice-President of Lennar Construction, we were assured that some of the replacement trees would be of "equal value" to compensate for what I consider a devastating loss of trees in the City.
 
The replacement trees mentioned in the "conceptual" plan are 15 gallon size trees. I asked about whether varied species, size and age trees would be planted. I was told that a yet to be produced working plan would specify that. At this point, my only hope is Lennar will plant a few larger trees in order to assure a greater profit selling homes.
 
A similar development is now proposed for Treasure Island, and I am very concerned that an arborist, paid to write a “conceptual” report (like in Hunters Point), will conclude that all the large trees are in poor health and will require removal.
 
San Francisco desperately needs your Tree Legislation to protect what few large trees we have left, especially in large new development plans.  According to the USDA Forest Service report, only 12.9% of the City’s 668,000 trees have a trunk diameter of 16" or more. Without a uniform policy the public and within city departments are not informed about proposed tree removals. Each year, San Francisco falls behind other large cities in the beauty of its urban forest.
 
SF trees do not need protection from residents who want to continue living in their homes and love their trees, but when a property is sold, to be replaced by buildings of several units, developers usually remove trees. 
 
I am very grateful for your support in protecting our urban forest and hope that you will continue working to protect our dwindling resource of large trees.

after teach-in with representatives from the San Fran and
Oakland mayoral offices."

=v= I am concerned that this even *not* be yet another feel-good
eco-photo-op for Newsom & Co. A few months back, Newsom signed
some sort of green cities pledge on World Environment Day, and
got excellent press for it nationwide.

=v= Shortly after that, he cut back Muni service AND raised its
fares AND devoted more money to extend police state tactics to
the Muni system. I shouldn't have to spell this out, but that
is the opposite of a green cities approach, as it discourages
people from using public transit and encourages them to drive
cars, pollute the air, waste gas, and fund oil wars.

=v= No more feel-good "oh isn't this green" photo ops.

Never has the status of science been held in higher esteem and the
public taken a bigger interest in natural history than during the
mid-19th century in America and Britain. This was a time of great
voyages of discovery, when fabulous fossil beasts were first
unearthed and put on public display. Most of today's renowned science
museums, including the California Academy of Sciences, were
established amid this enchantment with natural history. No middle-
class home was thought complete without a display of butterfly
collections or stuffed birds. John Dillon, Science Director at the
Randall Museum and President of the San Francisco Amateur
Astronomers, will explore the nature and extent of this fervor and

Gate Park.

Rhododendron Dell in Golden Gate Park. We will meet up with Steve
Cismowski the park's area supervisor and help garden in the Rhody Dell.

GLBT Historical Society Sponsors Celebration of
San Francisco Dyke March History on Dec. 10

Meet the Dyke March, an afternoon of performance, videos,
dialogue and celebration, is set for Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005, from 2
to 4
p.m. at the GLBT Historical Society, 657 Mission St., 3rd Floor, San
Francisco. The event is taking place in conjunction with an exhibit
at the
Historical Society of photographs by Cathy Cade and Jane Philomen
Cleland documenting the 12-year history of the Dyke March, a dynamic
gathering that brings together tens of thousands of women each June
to march through the streets of San Francisco the evening before the
annual LGBT Pride Parade.

"Meet the Dyke March" festivities will honor San Francisco Dyke March
cofounders Lisa Roth and Leslie Mullin. The afternoon will feature a
video
presentation by Cade and Cleland; a revue of performance artists,
musicians and drag kings drawn from the Dyke March committee;
reminiscences of Dyke March history; and an opportunity for members
of the community to give feedback to the organizers of the 2006 Dyke
March. In addition, the Historical Society galleries will be open for
viewing. Light refreshments will be provided. The event is open to
the public; admission is free, but donations to support the GLBT
Historical Society are encouraged.

Marking its 20th anniversary this year, the GLBT Historical Society is an
internationally renowned museum, archives and research center devoted to
increasing public understanding, appreciation and affirmation of the history
and culture of gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender and other sexual minority
individuals and communities.
