TRACY- 13 hate, 250 love

by TBL
Love wins the June 11 "battle of Tracy". Hate loses.
Outside a high school in Tracy, CA, 13 queer-haters were
outnumbered by around 250 counter-demonstrators,
on Saturday, June 11.

For details on Tracy, please see SF Chronicle report:
[ http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2005/06/12/BAGVMD7FJF1.DTL&hw=Phelps&sn=004&sc=823 ]

The Kansas fundi-fascists said they would picket Tracy churches
on Sunday, June 12.

They didn't mention any plans to visit San Francisco.

[ Comment by TBL:

(1) I'm proud of Tracy residents and others
who spoke up against genocidal hate.

(2) Unfortunately, IndyBay.org was damaged by
a factually FALSE report which claimed
that the Kansas gang would be picketing against GLAAD
at a downtown SF hotel;
and urged counter-demonstrators to use fire.

In fact, the GLAAD event had (weeks ago) moved to another location,
in sympathy with hotel workers;
a change which had previously been reported in both SF queer newspapers.

Plus the insane fire proposal
reflected badly on IndyBay.org;
and thus helped our enemies.

Frankly, I don't know whether the false report was
a deliberate hoax,
designed to harm queers and IndyBay.org;
or just a stupid foul-up.

( Remember the divisive tricks which the FBI used
in Hoover's COINTELPRO assaults on the Left?
Is Bush more ethical than Hoover? ) ]

by Indybay is an overlooked media organization
The other papers likely subscribe to all kinds of wire services that Indybay can't afford. We depend on people like you to report updates, and to go out and tell the folks in Tracy about what a great resource Indybay is. Someone did post an update on Saturday: http://www.indybay.org/news/2005/06/1747005.php

I posted something in IndyBay but it was a copy of their flyer. It was not noted on their website unitl the day of the event.
Get frickin real A hoax?
Many people who post on this site jump to conclusions.
Not a damn soul on this planet except the Phelps clan it self is going to cover or support them. (Phelps clan)

Hey I never saw a posting mentioning fire.
Wow was there a plan to shoot fire at them? Wow cool?
Use your brains.
A little common sense goes a long way.
I am queer and wouldn't waste a frickin second of my time on those fools, or a bullet.

The fire propsal appeared in the first posting about GLAAD
(at Union Square);

but NOT in the second posting (at Fort Mason) :

...

When they have appered in San Francisco in the past, they have been met with rocks, bottles and Aqua-net incited fires (Recipe: 1. get a book of matches or a lighter, light the fire, 2. Get a can of hairspray, (All the fashionable people use Aqua-net® but any hairspray or other canned spray accelerant will do. Butch-types can use Right Guard® Spray),
3. Hold the fire in front of the Aqua-net nozzle. Make sure nozzle is facing the way you want the fire to go (Fire safety is important), and spray. The flames will look very impressive), Watch the non-sissies run behind the police officers. Don't get caught. We want to see your pretty faces all week-end. None of this last paragraph is approved by Indybay, GLAAD or any responsible group.

Again its 5pm, today Saturday, Union Square. Be there or be oblong!
