Photos from Today at Civic Center
Photos from the march's arrival, one performance, and some other stuff
I was surprised to see that I had made it all the way to the front of the march just in time to arrive at Civic Center Plaza. We were greeted (not warmly) by about a dozen counter-protesters. Things seemed like they were getting ugly for a minute, but they calmed down. A cop talked to the guy who had a flag around his neck. The march continued into the plaza, and the speakers and performers on the main stage started to do their thing. An anarchist teach-in of sorts took place off to one side, with activists talking about struggles in local communities. The speakers I saw didn't actually address anarchism (did any of them?)- I think it could have been valuable, since the causes that I heard were being talked about have been covered on this site.
I found an area where drumming and dancing were going on. This was likely broken up when an anarchist aftermarch of sorts walked through that area.
