Permaculture Bike Tour
in memory of Karl Linn
Sunday • March 20th • 2005
10am - 2pm
Meet at Berkeley's EcoHouse
1305 Hopkins @ Peralta
Join us as we roll through side streets between
Sacramento and San Pablo Avenues from North Berkeley
to Emeryville. Visit gardens with native plants and
edibles, natural building structures and art, chickens
and goats, and creative folks. Come enjoy the first
day of spring, bring a lunch, and meet the other
interesting people amongst you.
Following the bike tour some of us will be paying our
respects at:
Memorial for Karl Linn
In honor of his contributions in service of community
and peace
On this first day of spring we honor Karl's life-long
commitment to planting seeds of kindness, friendship,
and beauty. This is how we create a new kind of
extended family.
Sunday, March 20, 2005
3:00 - 6:00pm
Berkeley Adult School*, 1701 San Pablo Avenue,
Berkeley (at Virginia St.)
Enter main parking lot from San Pablo Avenue.
Wheelchair access use entrance on Curtis Street.
*Memorial is no longer being held at Northbrae Church
The program will include several speakers, who are
long-time friends of Karl's.
Among them are:
-Leonard Duhl, Professor of Public Health, UC Berkeley
-Carl Anthony, Director, Ford Foundation Sustainable
Metropolitan Communities Initiative
-Lawrence Halprin, Architect
-Joanna Macy, Peace activist and Buddhist scholar
-Nadine Ghammache, East Bay Dialogue Group of Arabs
and Jews
-Linda Maio, Berkeley City Councilmember
Along with some musical offerings, two short film
pieces will be shown. A jazz ensemble will accompany
our potluck meal after the program.
Memorial Board:
Since there will not be enough time to open up the
microphone to all those attending, you are invited to
bring a brief written contribution to add to a large
memorial board. Materials will also be available at
the service to create your personal message. In the
interest of space, please put your statements on half
of a standard page of any color. (8.5 x 5.5)
Greening the Memorial:
You are invited to bring a potted plant of any size,
labeled with your name, to contribute to the event and
take back with you when you leave. Please try to
arrive 15-30 minutes early with your plant(s) in order
to have time to arrange them.
Potluck:
We will enjoy a potluck dinner together after the
program so please bring your favorite dish or hors
d'oeuvres to share. There are no kitchen facilities or
hot water to heat up food or wash dishes. Please bring
any utensils for serving, and label items with your
name.
