Tearing off stickers could be fun, are you providing a prize? From what we understand about stickers from graph writers, stickers are a toatlly legitimate form of engaging with public space, just like advertising except there is no corporation behind it. If Answer is stickering your hummer or personal car/bike/boat, then getting those stickers off is totally legal. But if the sticker is on a public post, sidewalk, or building, then by removing that sticker, you my friend could be engaging in property destruction. Next thing you know, if you continue these types of behavior you will be smashy windows just to rip ads down cause they drain from public space as much as some crumby sectarian sticker does. That would be a great contest, ridding public space of all advertising, the prize would be peace of mind and public space for public good. Get those ribbons first though.

I would have no problem arresting someone for possession of stolen property (felony) if I caught them with numerous magnets in their bag. How long until someone sets this fool up? it would be soooooooooo easy. All you'd have to do would be to purchace a bag of magnets and leave the reciept in your lawyer's safe. Then you could go out and *appear* to steal a magnet in front of JQP, let him arrest you, beat the case in court, sue the city, and donate the money you make on the lawsuit to a worthy cause, like for instance, Copwatch.

What are you tripping on? these magnets fall to the ground all over the place, picking them up is a public service not theft as you call it. You would basically have to be able to prove that they are "removed or stolen" from a vehicle, which would require the victims of this victimless crime to report such "theft". Which from my understanding of police budget situations, they don't have the money to follow up on stolen cars or house break ins, it is really hard to see any police agency wanting to spend tax payers dollars going after (misdemeanor) "criminal" !beharvior!
If John Q stick up his butt is too intimidating just bring a polaroid of said items or even just a cumulative score, there is prizes for all - cause we all win in the battle against psuedo patriotism.

What are you two doing stateside? The national gaurd needs your help and if for some reason you are exempt (ie low test scores or stds), they are always looking for gung ho "contractors" mercenaries.
Since we are talking about the law with a self identified "kop", get back to work. You are a public servant. If you are a kop for real, you would know that you need probable cause or proof of some other infraction to search people. You would know that it is true about what kind of crimes police have the money and energy to spend time on. You would also know that it is one thing to find a magnet on the street and quite another to break into someones car/home and steal their property.
I personally recomend people super gluing their magnets on their cars, it would definately prevent theft or falling off. Or rigging up a car alarm that shoots flames out from under the car, like in south africa.

That was quite a night History Buff, but thats exactly what it was "history". Two reasons it will never happen again. One- the people of this city no longer have the balls, and two- the police department would never tolerate it. They no longer have the "hands off" policies of yester-year.

Do you actually read these threads before you post? Like I told the other people, please at least do a little research before you start sounding supid. Just so ya know, probable cause and proof are not the same thing, nor are they even close. Secondly, no infraction is needed to search someone. There are numerouse reasons the police are able to search people, far too many to list here.

While your explaination may sound beleivable to a naive person, it is simply untrue. Control was lost that night because of certain command decisions, not because of the front line officers. And no, I'm no embarressed at all.

Do you really think outnumbered = overpowered? You must be high. Police are outnumbered at almost every protest, demonstration, or rally. If you were correct then we would have riots every night. Obvioulsy you are not.

The main reason this has not happened again is because the police have learned from their mistakes and most peopele are all talk, basically no balls. It's really funny to see a hundred people run as soon as the batons come out.
As long as the peopel do not cross the line it is simply easy overtime. So you tell me, the police are always outnumbered, why hasn't this happened again?

The policed are out-numbered at e=most demonstrations. The reasons more riots have not occurred is that people have decided not to do so. There is a tiem and place for eveything. People will at different times "have the balls" (and ovaries--Women do riot) to defeat the cops....when they're not expecting it, let's hope.

I think it is going to be great when all of us over in the sandbox come home and kick your ass because you stole a ribbon off our parent's car. talk about stress relief!! can't you think of anything better to do with your time? go out, party, have fun. but leave the people who accually care about something in this world alone. as for insulting the cops, who are you going to go crying to when your shit gets ripped off, or when you get beat up, raped or shot?
