jail solidary: photos from yesterday
1:50PM - Currently the first group of 6 has been herded into the courtoom to be arraigned. The District Attorney tried to argue in court that by giving the names "Jane" and "John Doe," they were in fact giving false names, and should be charged with the misdeamnor act of giving a false name to an officer. The judge subsequently ruled against that. Everyone in the first group of 6 started out with one misdemeanor charge and one infraction (similar to a traffic ticket). All the misdemeanors for the first 6 have been dismissed, leaving only the infractions. The last hour has been spent arguing whether or not to release the detainees, even though they haven't given their names, as infractions are not arrestable offenses. A recess has been called and arguments will resume at 2PM. 40 supporters are currently in the courtroom, and others are welcome to join them at 850 Bryant Street, courtroom 27.
11:15AM - All Jane and John Does have had their cases consilidated and will have a hearing together in Dept 27 on the 2nd Floor of 850 Bryant
