# EBCAW Video Screening: We Interrupt this Empire Tue May 18 7-8:30pm
The San Francisco Video Activist Network presents the story you won't see
on Fox News: an unflinching look at the Bay Area's radical resistance to
an illegal and horrific war.
"We Interrupt This Empire..." is a collaborative work by many of the Bay
Area's independent video activists which documents the direct actions that
shut down the financial district of San Francisco in the weeks following
the United States' invasion of Iraq. With the audio backdrop including the
live broadcasts of SF Indymedia's Enemy Combatant Radio and the SFPD's
tactical communications that were picked up by police scanners, the
documentary takes a look at the diverse show of resistance from the
streets of San Francisco as well as providing a critique of the coporate
media coverage of the war and exploring such issues as the Military
Industrial Complex, attacks on civil liberties, and the United States'
current imperialist drive.
"This is a clear picture of what's left of an American conscience in the
midst of this national horror-show--this is the best damn doc I've seen on
the local face of what might have been the largest anti-war movement in
world history. "
Where: Grand Lake Neighborhood Center, 530 Lake Park Ave, Oakland (between
Grandlake and Lakeshore, under 580). Wheelchair Accessible
Why: Because we need to show the world that we do know what's going on
with our government and we're NOT OK with it. $1 (510) 658-8994

# 5/22: "KFOG KaBoom!" Free Fireworks and Concert
Massive Fireworks Over San Francisco Bay and Free Concert with Train and special guests The Waifs and Robert Randolph & The Family Band on Saturday, May 22, 4 p.m.-10 p.m. at Piers 30-32, San Francisco
A favorite annual tradition in the Bay Area, this free event, featuring a concert with major recording artists is topped off with one of the best fireworks displays in the country. The gigantic fireworks show over the Bay will explode in harmony with a KFOG World Class Rock soundtrack broadcast on KFOG at 104.5FM and 97.7FM.
The event begins at 4 p.m. on San Francisco Piers 30-32, just south of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, with an expo area of food, drinks, interactive sponsor exhibits and continuous performances for families on the Children's Stage. At 4:30 p.m., the free live concert begins with an incredible line-up of talent: Robert Randolph & The Family Band, The Waifs and Train. The extraordinary fireworks display will cap the event at 9 p.m. KFOG estimates that 350,000 people will be lined up along the Embarcadero Promenade for the show. Other nearby spectators are encouraged to bring their radios and tune into the soundtrack simulcast on KFOG 104.597.7.
More than seven tons of explosives are used in the fireworks display created by Pyrotechnic Choreographer Eric Tucker. The fireworks show—which takes a five full days to set up on a group of barges the size of a football field—will be fired from San Francisco Bay, just off Piers 30-32.
Title sponsors for the event are Phillips Electronics and local Toyota dealers. For more information call 415/817-KFOG or visit http://www.kfog.com http://www.craigslist.org/eve/28903244.html

# Hello all you lovely ladies!
The next Womens' Circle (Monday, May 24)will be at the infamous
Chateau L'Orange house in Oakland(make sure you bring your towel for
the hot tub!). Bring food for the potluck at 6:30, and then
ritual/ceremony/gathering time is at 7:30.
Please bring your favorite fresh herbs for making smudge sticks, as
well as twine or string, and maybe a sacred stone or shell for wrapping
in the smudge.
Also feel free to bring a piece of yourself that you would like to
offer to the circle; maybe share something meaningful that you learned,
or bring a poem you wrote, or any gift created from the heart. And here
are the directions...
From the Bay bridge, Berkeley, and the Richmond bridge get on to
the 580 E towards Hayward/Stockton/Downtown Oakland. Go thru most of
Oakland and get off at the Seminary Ave/Warren Fwy(13) exit. Make an
immediate left under the bridge following signs to (13)Warren Fwy(don't
go all the way to Seminary). Veer right after you go under the bridge,
still following signs to (13)Warren Fwy. Continue on that same road
until you get to a stop sign. Go straight thru the stop sign, which
will put you on Mountain Blvd. Go up Mountain Blvd 1/2 mile and park on
the corner of Mountain and Leona st. We promised our neighbors we would
have NO PARKING ON LEONA ST., for it is a narrow cliff-hanger one way
road and street parking is limited. Please walk the 75 yards to the
house at 5125 Leona which is the first one on the right and the
entrance is down the wooden staircase.

For more information call 415/817-KFOG or visit http://www.kfog.com http://www.craigslist.org/eve/28903244.html

or bring a poem you wrote, or any gift created from the heart. And here
are the directions...
Please walk the 75 yards to the
house at 5125 Leona which is the first one on the right and the
entrance is down the wooden staircase.
call 510-410-8876 for questions. luv, Sherry :-)
