March 20th Breakaway/housing action march
March 20th Breakaway/housing action march
March 20th Breakaway/housing action march
From Iraq to our neighborhoods, war is being waged internationally in order to support capitalist wars and a consumerist way of life. The U.S. government bombs houses in Iraq and all over the world, while thousands of people in San Francisco alone are left homeless. In the face of these capitalist wars waged on a daily basis, the needs of the peoples of the world, and of our local communities, are ignored. The wars abroad and the wars at home are both being forced upon us, in order to take away our spaces and privatize them for the interests of capitalist elites. Taking back these spaces is an act of compassion and resistance to the powers that want to repress the unity and resistance that lies within community, turning us all into consumers, separate from each other, blind to the possibilities of (re)creating a free world.
Here’s the details:
- 2 PM Polk and Grove (at Civic Center), after the ANSWER march
- Look for big black and red flag with houses on it
- Visit points of interest! Engage in creative forms of conspicuous consumerism! Show how pissed off you are about capitalist wars and empty houses with no one living in them!
What to bring:
Instruments, noisemakers, drums
bullhorns
plants, gardening tools
friends, lovers, families (however you define those terms, of course)
food and water
funny, creative clothing
boomboxes
sidewalk chalk
and anything else that may be “useful” (heh heh)
