Indymedia Downplaying Link To Cop Killer
Chronicle reports that a man who bragged of killing a Red Bluff cop, posted on this site. News of this is conspicuously absent from here...
Acordin to the Chronicle "In the posting, McCrae blamed all the major problems in America and the world on corporate irresponsibility and said he had set up his own corporation under the name "Proud and Insolent Youth Incorporated" so that he could "use the destructive immunity of corporations and turn it on something that actually should be destroyed."
I find it odd that SF Indymedia is downplaying this info and would at least provide a relevant link to the single most major news story to emanate from this site.

But the fact that indy media is completely ignoring it...is ridiculous. Just because you are pretending something is not happening, does not mean it isn't happening. Indymedia should take a proactive stance, create a large header and link to the post. Perhaps set up a " debunking the myths " sidebar and let people who have never been here learn about the site and it's true purpose. Instaed the site is littered with crap like "KMEL SUCKS" and plenty other irrelevant news.
It's just a sad day when you are actually generating hits on a topic of interest to the general public and yet don't offer anything up for these readers... it's a missed opportunity to actually get the word out...
Too bad if it takes such a story to get the attention...

SF indymedia is being targeted by the corporate media when McCrae posted MANY places besides indymedia and MANY places before he posted here at sf indymedia.
to the people of sfindymedia: thank you! Your service to the community is appreciated by a people under the yoke of wage slavery and in the haze of coporate media.
Suspect Arraigned in Police Murder
Trail Leads FBI To New Hampshire
POSTED: 8:04 a.m. PST November 26, 2002
UPDATED: 6:01 p.m. PST November 26, 2002
CONCORD, N.H. -- A 23-year-old man opposed to "police-state tactics" was captured in a hotel Tuesday as people in California flocked to a memorial service for a police officer he apparently admitted killing.
Andrew Hampton McCrae, 23, of Olympia, Wash., surrendered without incident about 10 a.m. after a standoff at the Holiday Inn, police said.
Investigators will have to prove the man they arrested is the same Andrew McCrae who admitting on the Web to killing the officer, but police indicated they believe he is. A fugitive warrant from California named McCrae, and Concord Police Chief Jerry Madden referred reporters to the Web site when asked who he was. The FBI tipped police at 2:19 a.m. that McCrae was staying in a fourth-floor room at the hotel.
A police tactical team arrived at the hotel, a block from the Statehouse, at 6 a.m. and the fourth floor of the hotel was evacuated, police said. FBI negotiators talked with McCrae by phone and tried to persuade him to surrender.
Red Bluff, Calif., police officer David Mobilio, 31, was shot once in the head on Nov. 19 as he was refueling his cruiser. A man identifying himself as Andrew McCrae claimed responsibility in a posting Monday to a Web site for San Francisco news, SF Indy Media.
"Hello everyone, my name's Andy," he said in one of two letters. "I killed a police officer in Red Bluff, California, in a motion to bring attention to, and halt, the police-state tactics that have come to be used throughout our country. The writer said the killing also was "an action against corporate irresponsibility," which he blamed for "all of the major problems in America and throughout the world today."
Thousands attended Mobilio's memorial service Tuesday in Red Bluff, a city of 13,500 near Sacramento. He was the first Red Bluff officer ever killed in the line of duty. In one of the Internet postings, McCrae claimed he is immune from prosecution because he incorporated himself. Corporate officers are shielded from personal liability for a corporation's debts.
McCrae said the name for his corporation, "Proud and Insolent Youth," was taken from Peter Pan, a famous children's story about a band of children vanquishing the evil pirate, Captain Hook.
"Peter Pan hates pirates and I hate pirates, and corporations are nothing but a bunch of pirates," McCrae wrote. "It's time to send them to a watery grave and rip them completely out of our lives."
"The very concept behind corporations is to protect their owners from taking responsibility for their actions," he said elsewhere. "This means that directors within corporations can dump waste chemicals in our drinking water, or keep our work environments in fatally dangerous conditions, without any personal liability."
He claimed corporations "murder" thousands of people each year.
The incorporation papers, filed in Concord on Nov. 7, list addresses in Loudon, N.H., and Olympia, Wash. The contact phone number listed for McCrae in Olympia did not answer Tuesday morning.
McCrae showed little emotion when prosecutors arraigned him on murder charges Tuesday. He did not enter a plea and is being held without bail.
Does that make me an accessory to the fact or in conspiracy to incite change through non lawful means? Talk about open ended possibilities.
We're being played like a violin.
can you show the freepers ite
They were all posted on an IMC forum. Keyword: IMC.
In his quest to ignorantly score political points, Eric brandishes his vague (and alleged) experiences in Africa to argue that America is the bestest. Nowhere does Eric mention the legecy of colonialism, imperialist debt, or IMF austerity. If Eric were in a country governed by a clique claiming to be communist he'd attribute mass poverty to socialism or liberalism or whatever. But like rightists everywhere, Eric drops his stucturalist critique of poverty in explicitly capitalist states; instead we're left to believe that poverty's a product of moral failings, corruption, or laziness.
You liberals. Chirp and squeak my name! My ego grows with every passing day.
But to slander me and say that I'm *glad* an officer was murdered? Keep on typing nessie. Peck those keys. Your whole archive will be reviewed at the trial.
I don't think I will make it to 10.
Your bank account might be a little fatter if you'd get a real job other than moving pianos, and move your family to the suburbs where mortgages are little more affordable.
You'd think a guy with such a large vocabulary and an obvious economics background would have been able to figure that out by now!
Jeesh!
PS: I actually make relatively good money moving pianos, but there hasn't been much work for quite some time now. And I'd rather contract small pox than live in Walnut Creek!
PSS: I have no "background" in economics.
They had a feature up by Tuesday evening.
You just don't want to admit you were forced into something you didn't want to do -- you don't like being proved wrong, especially in public.
Will you post the photos of you eating crow, nessie ;-)
Clearly it was pressure from the IMC opinions outside the SF collective that lit a fire under your butt.
Clearly you have a problem in abmitting you make mistakes or can be wrong.
