Despite talk of cutting government waste, DOGE has yet to slash the bloated $900 billion Pentagon budget. Surely, mega-billionaire Elon Musk and his 20-something techies know the DOD has failed seven straight audits and is ripe for the gutting. Will Musk’s $40 billion in surveillance and war contracts dissuade him from touching the Pentagon purse? —Or will he surprise us by closing military bases and cutting the nuclear rearmament program – all in keeping with his co-President Donald Trump’s isolationist chest-beating and stated desire for denuclearization?

Join us as we talk to a once-Pentagon insider about his wish list for Pentagon cuts, Musk mania, and the current mood in the military.

Featured Guest:

Col. (ret.) Lawrence Wilkerson served as Secretary of State Colin Powell's Chief of Staff (2002-2005), also as Associate Director of the State Department's Policy Planning staff under the directorship of Ambassador Richard N. Haass, and as a member of that staff responsible for East Asia and the Pacific, political-military and legislative affairs (2001-2002).

Before serving at the State Department, Wilkerson served 31 years in the U.S. Army. During that time, he was a member of the faculty of the U.S. Naval War College (1987-1989). Wilkerson retired in 1997 and began work as an advisor to General Powell. He has also taught national security affairs at the George Washington University and is currently working on a book about the first George W. Bush administration.
