Impunity At Our Borders

by IndyRadio
A culture of racism and impunity was established by the KKK and Texas Rangers, who were the core of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at it's founding, and it continues silently today.
A study of CPB abuses was done at the start of Donald Trump's first term in office. Information from CBP was sparse, but abuses included willingly running a woman over with her own car. The bulk of complaints were not made public, but among those that were, 96% resulted in "no action taken". The data used for the study was from 2009-2012 during Obama's first term, and we do not have newer data.
A study of Border Patrol abuses was done in 2017, and we lack newer data.
"U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has a long history of violating constitutional and other rights of both immigrants and U.S. citizens. More precisely, agents of the Border Patrol (a component agency of CBP) are known for regularly overstepping the boundaries of their authority by using excessive force, detaining people under inhumane conditions, and using coercion and misinformation to remove people from the United States."

There is no transparency in the US Border Patrol. The norm was established by the KKK and Texas Rangers, who were the core of the agency at it's founding, and established a culture of casual racism. A study was done at the start of Donald Trump's first term in office. Information from CBP was sparse, but abuses included willingly running a woman over with her own car. The bulk of complaints were not made public, but among those that were, 96% resulted in "no action taken". The data used for the study was from 2009-2012 during Obama's first term. The results of the study, followed by complete silence should raise suspicions going forward. You can read the study online, or download the pdf before you read the news today about a border patrol agent shot at a traffic stop. It is interesting they have not circulated a wanted posted for the driver who shot a border patrol agent. It might reveal the race of the driver, and make us wonder what scenario precipitated this shooting.

The date of the pdf is 2021, but it is the culmination of several previous studies, especially this one from 2014:
No Action Taken: Lack of CBP Accountability in Responding to Complaints of Abuse

Published: May 4, 2014

The article "published near the start of Trump's first term" was this one:
Still No Action Taken: Complaints Against Border Patrol Agents Continue to Go Unanswered
Guillermo Cantor, Ph.D.
Published: August 2, 2017

There is also one typo in my post:
"abuses included willing running a woman over with her own car"
should be
"abuses include willingly running a woman over with her own car"
