Warner Bros under fire over movie on Israeli Air Force founder

Warner Bros' new film, featuring Adolph Schwimmer, is widely criticized as an attempt to artwash Israeli genocide and crimes.

Warner Bros is developing a film about Adolph Schwimmer, a World War II veteran and the founder of the Israeli Aerospace Industries, with Aaron Sorkin slotted to write the script and possibly direct, as reported by Deadline.

According to the sources, the film will be based in part on an article by David Kushner published in Business Insider earlier this year, titled “America’s greatest gift to Israel."

Two Hollywood institutions — the Warner Bros. film studio and screenwriter Aaron Sorkin — are teaming up to make the movie, portraying Schwimmer’s role as "iconic" and "heroic". However, critics have criticized the work as biased toward the Israeli narrative.

In 1948, Schwimmer defied an international arms embargo by covertly transporting military planes and over 50,000 weapons through Czechoslovakia to the Haganah, a Zionist militia. These arms played a crucial role in the 1948 Nakba, which led to the killing of thousands of Palestinians in dozens of massacres and the forced displacement and expulsion of approximately 750,000 Palestinians.

The work was widely criticized and described as an effort to whitewash Israeli crimes, in what is also described as "artwashing".

Many expressed their condemnation of the work, considering it an attempt to conceal American-backed genocide and colonial history.

Some considered featuring Schwimmer exposes how criminals are considered "heroic" only because they're "white Jews" at a time when "thieves are canonized for robbing land and materiel."

Another critic condemned the effort as an attempt to whitewash genocide, remarking, "Movie studios are openly signaling they believe audiences will blindly accept figures responsible for atrocities."
