Gaza polio vaccination for children halted due to Israeli attacks
A polio vaccination campaign for children in northern Gaza has been postponed due to Israeli bombardment, mass displacement and lack of access, the World Health Organization says.
The final phase, due to begin today, was aimed at vaccinating more than 119,000 children in the Strip.
“The current conditions, including ongoing attacks on civilian infrastructure, continue to jeopardize people’s safety and movement in northern Gaza, making it impossible for families to safely bring their children for vaccination, and health workers to operate,” the UN agency said in a statement, reiterating its call for a ceasefire.

“This is hindering its timely implementation, and depriving the children of Gaza and North Governorate of their right to receive the vaccination,” it added.
