It's Breathe California's biggest annual fundraiser of the year!
The Breath of Life Walk (BOLW) raises funds vital for Breathe California's programs and initiatives dedicated to improving lung health. These funds support research, advocacy, education, and direct assistance for those affected by lung diseases.
Secondly, the Breath of Life Walk fosters a sense of community among participants. It brings together individuals impacted by lung diseases, their families, healthcare professionals, and supporters passionate about respiratory health. Last year, the Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara Wheezeless Walkers Team had a great time at the event with their medical provider Dr. Dailey! One of the walkers on this team walked in memory of his parents and kept saying that he wishes they could’ve seen and experienced the walk the way he did in 2023.
Through this event, participants share their stories, offer support, and find solidarity with others facing similar challenges.
Importantly, the Breath of Life Walk amplifies the message of Breathe California's mission: advocating for policies and practices that promote clean air, smoking cessation, and lung disease prevention. By participating, individuals not only contribute financially but also show their commitment to creating a healthier environment for all.
The Breath of Life Walk at Hellyer County Park is Breathe California's biggest annual fundraising event. It's a gathering where people come together to support those affected by lung diseases, raise awareness about the importance of respiratory health, and take action towards a cleaner, healthier future.
100% of the proceeds from the Breath of Life Walk will remain in the Bay Area to help fund Breathe California’s wide array of local programs and services. Fundraising will allow us to:
-Teach kids with asthma how to manage their condition, train their care givers, and promote asthma-friendly environments.
-Offer education and support to local residents who are suffering from emphysema, COPD, lung cancer, and sleep apnea.
-Keep youth from getting addicted to vaping/tobacco, and offer assistance to smokers trying to quit.
-Improve local air quality to ensure that all Bay Area residents can breathe easier.
