What does it mean for democracy to be under attack? Are our fears of a descent toward authoritarianism rational? Is the scapegoating of vulnerable communities a sign of things to come?
We cannot protect democracy if we don’t understand the mechanisms of how it’s being attacked.
Join us for a conversation with our partners at Protect Democracy Project, who are leading experts on what a democracy under attack, sliding toward authoritarian control, could look like in the American context.
They'll walk us through forecasted implications on topics like politicizing independent institutions, quashing dissent, scapegoating vulnerable communities, and aggrandizing executive power.
After hearing from them, we'll explore ways to prepare ourselves, other progressives, and our communities to continue vigilance in protecting our coalition and safeguarding our rights. This session is brought to you in collaboration with our partners at Protect Democracy.
