On July 30 1975, students from the National University of El Salvador were marching to protest repression by the military, which had taken over the campus in Santa Ana on July 25. General Arturo Armando Molina ordered the Salvadoran National Guard to suppress the protest with machine guns and tanks - resulting in the casualties, deaths and disappearances of an unknown number of youth and students.

Today, university students are facing a similar struggle in El Salvador as Nayib Bukele enters his second illegal term as president and falls short on his promises made to the university. Instead using it as a hotel for major events and putting the university into millions of dollars of debt, all while students are forced to take online classes while the government exploits and worsens the university's resources.

Join us to commemorate the lives that were lost and to learn about the ongoing struggles in El Salvador today!

Sponsored by the Bay Area chapter of the Committee in Solidarity with the People of El Salvador and the Farabundo Martí National Liberation Front Committee of Northern California.
