This is a virtual meeting held on zoom.
If “hope is a discipline,” as Mariame Kaba says, how do I strike the balance between the chasm of my fear and the mountain of responsibility that is maintaining hope while tending to the growing flames of precarious, new life? How can I strengthen the muscles of queer world building and imagining such that I can look to the horizon and see a possible livable future for my child(ren)? And what of the drone of the mundane, the ache of isolation, the horror of watching genocide live-streamed, or the bone-weariness of meeting the soul-sucking demands of late capitalism? How do we protect what childhood is supposed to be while not lying to our children about the state of the world?
Let us come together. To cry. To rage. To plan. To share. To hold each other in this long night. To hopefully emerge fortified, strategized, connected, and committed to parenting during these defining moments. With our eyes turned toward the horizon awaiting the burning birth of the future that will come to be the bulk of our children’s existence.
Our next meeting will be on 3/16 from 11am-12:30pm Pacific. Respond to the google form for zoom link.
