The Declaration of Independence proclaimed a fundamental right to life, and how is life possible absent access to the Earth? As for an equitable right of access to the Earth for everyone upon which to apply themself in getting a living, how to achieve that unless John Locke's proviso is satisfied?
John Locke argued everyone has a right to a piece of the Earth for livelihood getting such that "as much and as good" land remained for everyone else.
Now true, most of us are no longer farmers, but it's also true that "location, location, location" is the signal truth about land today. The economic power of land largely resides with location. So the land question today is not "How do we divide up the land?", but instead, "How do we ensure an equitable distribution of land's economic power?"
Donald Trump is an iconic figure antagonistic to the equitable distribution of land's economic power, and as such he is an avatar of opposition to the realization of the right to life as avowed by The Declaration of Independence.
Come along on a free walking tour exploring the intersection of real estate and social questions by way of a survey of San Francisco social movements. History, stories, revelatory economics will drench you with insights into how to right San Francisco's and the nation's ship. Come prepared to leave kvetching behind and to sail wide intellectual waters.
