Join a walking tour surveying the socio-economic history of 16th Street from pre-colonial days right on through to today. Begins with a guided tour of Mission Dolores, then ambles down 16th Street, turning up Albion to conclude at the Women's Building at 18th.
Along the way we'll inquire into the transition of a now under-grounded creek as a natural diner for the Ohlone into today's cash cow for real estate investors. How has association in equality devolved into proximity in inequality? . . . with a short, but heady antidote suggested by the Women's Building murals!
Led by me, a 30 year (and current) veteran of middle and high school civics classrooms, as well as a 25 year veteran walking tour guide.
$7 entrance fee to the Mission museum, and an at-will donation at walk's end.
