Wagner "coup" in a "January 6" moment for Russia?
Eerily, the aborted "coup" by Wagner warlord Y. Prigorzhin over the weekend resembled--with obvious differences-- the January 6th D.C. "insurrection " in the US. Even more alarmingly, it portends a wildly international situation, where the 2 greatest global military powers both face wildly unpredictable political futures, while billions of our Planetary citizens could be wiped out in an accidental and/or uncontrollable nuclear exchange.
This is not a joke, nor a planned test of potential nuclear confrontation.
The sad and ominous truth is, the political ruling elite of these 2 lethal war machines have a fairly fragile hold on their regimes. Both Washington abd Moscow face tremendous--many critics would say insurmountable--domestic, economic, diplomatic and most critically, political headwinds. In the US, despite a "Corporate-bin-Laden" media cocoon that works 24/7365 to impose a NeoLiberal narrative which covers up intractable Capitalist calamities like a $31+ Trillion-dollar national debt, millions of homeless lumpenproletaiat, lack of decent Universal healthcare, persistent inflation due to a forever-war economy that has enabled a vast income inequality not seen since the 1930s, the political mood is bitter and sorely open to a transformative change, whether A)return to the malfeasance and despicable con-man of T-Rump or his wannabe GOP swamp monsters; or B) an unlikely progressive Left wildcard like the Cornel West variety that might dare to challenge the genetically-imbedded Military-Industrial War Machine?
In Russia, the even more opaque Kremlin ruling circle could also face subterranean economic, military and political instability/cracks that may suddenly erupt with little advance. Who really knows how major decisions are made inside Kremlin's intransparent quarters?
This is the very bleak future facing our Planet, even as the "leadership" of all the the industrial and economic superpowers plumge headlong with absolute determination to the not-so-slow march toward a catastrophic Climate Crisis.
