ODE TO MARX--“Money is…exchanged for…the whole objective world of man and nature.”
Money—
Closes hospitals during a pandemic
Money, money---
Exchanges consumer protection for corporate protection
Money, money, money---
Transforms politicians of the people into agents of Wall Street, workers’ unions into corporate control
Corporate profit exchanges water, sky, earth, and blood for poison.
Money exchanges science for nonsense, rational for irrational, facts for fanaticism, information for misinformation, public for private, peace for war, truth for lies, fascists for freedom fighters, democracy for oligarchy
How will we live?
When money exchanges forests for furniture, and firewood we need,
What will we breathe?
When money converts seas to deserts and farms to concrete,
What will we eat?
When earth is pumped dry and air sears lungs,
Will we breathe all those mutual funds?
When floods sweep the land and winds blow down homes,
Will we drink all that money to feed our bones?
When banks balloon and crops crash,
Will we eat all that tasty cash?
Intelligent are we?
What will it be?
It’s money or your life.
