Science Saturdays at the Children's Museum
The community is invited to our Science Saturdays on September 17 and October 15 between 11:30 am - 1 pm and then again 2 - 3:30 pm at the Santa Cruz Children’s Museum of Discovery (MOD) to celebrate working female scientists and promote women in STEM.
The event is free to MOD members and patrons with a paid daily admission to the Museum.
Science Saturdays are designed to facilitate female working scientists from Driscoll’s Berries, Ohalo Genetics, and UCSC. The new STEM programming will feature fun and educational experiments like strawberry DNA extraction, a Mix-it-Up project, as well as having guests explore microorganism viewing with MOD’s extensive collection of microscopes.
The MOD’s first Science Saturdays took place on Saturday, August 20 and was a success.“My kids had a great time during the first Science Saturday!” said MOD’s General Manager, Paige Roberts. “They loved strawberry DNA extraction and making strawberry DNA necklaces to take home.”
The Santa Cruz Children’s Museum of Discovery is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization created in 2014 to support local families and provide a safe place for children to learn through play.
