Goldman Environmental Prize to Honor Environmental Heroes
The Goldman Environmental Prize will announce the recipients of the 2022 Goldman Environmental Prize, the world's foremost award for grassroots environmental activists, on Wednesday, May 25, 2022.
Awarded annually to environmental leaders from each of the world's continental regions, the Goldman Environmental Prize honors the achievements and leadership of grassroots environmental activists from around the world, inspiring all of us to take action to protect our planet.
The Prize was founded in 1989 in San Francisco by philanthropists and civic leaders Rhoda and Richard Goldman. As Richard Goldman once noted, "We'd like to leave the world a little better than we found it." In 33 years, the Prize winners have had an immeasurable impact on the planet. To date, the Prize has honored 206 winners (including 92 women) from 92 nations and has shined a light on many of the critical issues facing the Earth.
The Prize will be awarded virtually and broadcast online on May 25, 2022, at 4:50 pm PDT.
The virtual ceremony will feature Jane Fonda as host, narration by Sigourney Weaver, remarks by Dr. Jane Goodall, and performances by Angelique Kidjo and the Detroit Youth Choir. The event is free to attend.
