In honor of Black History Month, a People’s Rally for Health Care is being held at 12th Street & Lake Merritt Blvd near Lake Merritt Amphitheater in Oakland to demand the passage of Health Care for All.

When AB1400, (CalCare) California’s ‘Guaranteed Health Care For All’ bill was pulled from the Assembly floor vote many of us were very disappointed. Our opposition in the insurance and for-profit healthcare lobby fought hard with misleading ads and their endless stream of corporate cash to legislators to protect their billions in profit.

We are rallying to demand that our lawmakers prioritize the lives and health of our most underserved communities, people of color, women, and people who are poor, disabled, LGBTQ+, immigrants or undocumented.

This is how we keep building our demands for equitable healthcare, by showing up!

Masks and Social Distancing Required.

We have been advocating for such an expanded and improved Medicare for All health care system since our inception, 14 years ago, through public education and outreach in the South San Francisco Bay Area.

We believe that healthcare is a human right, and that it should be provided ao ALL, regardless of any life circumstances - "Everybody In, Nobody Out!".

Our focus also includes health justice, as we face increasing inequities that BIPOC communities experience in receiving adequate and quality health care.

At the state level, California is thoroughly controlled by the Democrats -- they hold ALL statewide offices and overwhelming (veto-proof) majorities in both houses of the state legislature. So clearly, if the Dems had wanted to, they could have passed Medicare-for-all. But instead, they much prefer getting big donations from health care profiteers, rather than helping out "we the people". (Commentator Krystal Ball made a great 8-minute YouTube video about the Dems' corruption regarding this subject, here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBB36JIktas )

So -- DON'T vote for the Democrats any more! (At least at the state level here in California). Instead, vote for one of the progressive third parties: the Green Party or the Peace and Freedom Party. Given their lock on statewide offices, the Dems are guaranteed to win those offices once again -- but if the progressive third party candidates can get 5 to 10 percent of the vote (or even 15%) -- instead of the usual 1 to 5 percent, that will definitely help with the push for more progressive policies.

Don't believe the fear-mongering that the Dems might lose a statewide office -- they absolutely won't, given the composition of the California electorate. NOW is the time to vote for, and support, Green Party and Peace and Freedom Party statewide candidates. In the words of Lao Tzu (slightly extended), "If we do not change direction, we will get where we are headed".
We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
