Jan. 6th: Nationwide Day of Remembrance & Action

Wednesday January 5th, from 7:00 to 8:00 PM Pacific Time

RSVP: https://www.mobilize.us/democracyvigils/event/433872/

PLEASE NOTE: We are holding our virtual event one day early, on Wed. January 5th . However, the Mobilize signup app only allows us to indicate "January 6th" as the date,
but our event is definitely on January 5th.

January 6 was a violent and deadly attack against all Americans – against our country, our democracy, and our freedom as voters to choose the leaders that represent us so that we have a government of, by, and for the people.

One year later, the same faction that attacked our country on January 6th is hard at work silencing our voices by restricting our freedom to vote, attacking fair voting districts, and quietly preparing future attempts to sabotage free and fair elections and with it our democracy.

So this January 5th (one day early), join Indivisible South Peninsula as we remember January 6th, but also, move immediately into action:

(1) plan for a major action on January 17th (MLK Day) to tell the Senate, NO MORE DELAYS on a filibuster carve-out for voting rights and democracy protection legislation;

(2) hear from a local expert on exactly what election subversion is, and why activists and Congress need to do more to stop it;

(3) organize for a meeting with our local members of Congress to urge them to introduce a new anti-election-subversion bill ASAP (because the current bills do not go far enough);

(4) begin organizing our voter registration and get-out-the-vote efforts for the Midterms and beyond.

The promise of democracy is not a partisan issue but a calling that unites us as Americans. Coming together, we can prevent another January 6th attack and realize the promise of democracy for all of us. But we can only win if we all make defending our democracy a priority - starting right now.

Please join us
